Want to know the reason behind me always posting pictures of the hit series Gossip Girl? They wear the most fabulous headbands out of anyone I know. They should pay me to be a walking spokes person for the fashion on thier show. If you have not watched the show already then you must start. If you dont like the acting or the catty behavior, mute it. Prepare to be amazed by the clothes that they wear. From top designers to local, the clothes that they wear on this show are simply amazing and every fashionista should be aware.
Until then,

You all may be wondering, what is going to become of JBands? Don't worry, even though class is ending and this project is wrapping up, I am not planning on going anywhere. You all better stay tuned for great things in the future, because this line is going global.... well maybe I will start aiming for nation or even state wide first. But thats besides the point, I want to make a career out of this brand and I cant do it alone. I need all of your help! Get your friends to follow. The next posts will be pictures of my own work and where you can find them. Trust me, you are going to want to have one of the first ones made, so do not miss out! I think to ensure that this all really happens, the next step for me is trademarking. Over the Christmas holidays I plan on doing just that. I am going to trademark the name JBands so that people(and myself) know that this is going to happen for real. Ill keep you posted as I work on it. Thank you for following,
Until then,
JBands

Love is in the air! Or... is it in the hair? Got to give it up to Blair Waldorf in the hit series of Gossip Girl for being the queen of headbands. And for a good reason, she looks good in them!

With "going green" as big as ever, how does a company stay in the loop to real customers in for their very own green products? Make something unique and give a green discount. I want my brand to have a positive outlook on the environment. So I made a list of things I could do to ensure more green for the environment, and more green for your pocket.
1. Donate any extra scrap fabric you have to the stores that carry JBands. With all the scrap fabric we can then use them to create new recycled looks in the headband collection for a cheaper price. Then people could get a better since of vintage in their wardrobe and all of the proceeds could go to a cause that helps the earth and animals out. Then people would not feel like they were being gipped into buying stuff they donated, it would be a form of feel good charity.
2. Have a benefit where people come and bid on headbands that other people make as well as my own. There could be a contest to see who sells the higher bid, my headbands or the people who enter, all proceeds would go to cleaning the streets of New York and other places as well.
3. Make a special line of headbands that are made from 100% recycled goods, such as old soup cans and old magazines. It could be the eco friendly line and made out of all things you find in your house. People like things like that, so it would sell and be good for the environment!

Now is time to be greener than ever! What can you do to help?

Over the last 20 years, one could come to the conclusion that companies do not always treat thier employees right. Dealing with wages and working hours as well as age can be very dangerous when you own a large enough company where you have to have your goods manufactured in other countries. Although some people do it simply because it is cheaper. I can assure you that JBands will remain a US based company and will have none of these problems. How do I know this? Because its my brand. And even if one day I sell these headbands to stores such as Anthropologie and J.Crew, they will be made in my presence and not in any factory by any means. The whole idea of Jbands is a unique and vintage look rather than something you can just buy at forever 21. But who knows, when I get big, maybe I will follow what all the other brands are doing, making smaller chains.
Until then,
Jbands
As you all know, I am developing this brand from scratch. I have gathered some information to those who care to know how exactly I am going to do this. First of all, it will be a sole proprietorship because I believe that they are my ideas and I will need things done how I see them. Then hopefully one day they will be famous enough that I can make the brand into a corporation. The corporate location will be in New York, preferably the Upper East Side (hey I can dream can't I?) or possibly if it gets big enough it could move to the meat packing district. Maybe I could share offices with DVF? I am sure we will be close friends soon anyways. :) But to get my start, I will start selling them on Etsy and to other headband lovers, maybe even mail some into stylists to give them something a little extra to work with, with their clients. I hope you all believe in me as much as I do. I have big plans for the future so please stay tuned!

From Ashlee Simpson to Paris Hilton, stars are sporting this season’s hottest hair accessory: headbands. But let’s face it, not every celeb is rocking the look right, so here are our In Touch Tips to keep you on track.

Fit: The boho-chic look is back, but if you’re going to wear a band across your forehead make sure it’s not too tight. If it is, you’ll be extremely uncomfortable and run the risk of looking like a mushroom, which is never stylish.

Placement: As Leighton Meester shows, wearing a headband behind your ears and about an inch behind your hairline looks sweet and elegant. If it’s too far forward, it will shrink your face and if it’s too far back, your forehead will look huge.

Tame the mane: Even though a headband is a lifesaver when you’re suffering from a bad hair day, you should still make sure your overall look is presentable and polished. So just slide on a scarf or band and then pull the rest of your hair in a simple bun or ponytail if the rest of your hair is too unruly.

If you’re ready to try this latest fashion fad, we highly recommend headbands by Lavender Girl. We’d also love to hear your headband style secrets, so send us an e-mail at fashionista@intouchweekly.com — and remember, Stay Stylish!— Amy Silverberg, Fashion Writer

Nationwide Headband Trend Traced Back To Area Sophomore
March 9, 2005
Issue 41•10

PIERRE, SD—As cotton athletic headbands, the season's hot fashion accessory, continue to appear on trendsetters' foreheads across the nation, the originator of the fad has finally been located: Pierre West High School sophomore Melody Peterson.

Peterson, who made the fashion statement later copied by stars like Russell Crowe (right).
"Yeah, I started doing that headband thing, like, six months ago," the 16-year-old Peterson told reporters Monday. "Of course, all the other girls in my school were wearing them right after I did, and then everyone in South Dakota started doing it. Pretty soon, I was seeing headbands on TV and stuff."
Before the headband trend was traced to Peterson, little was known about this B-average student who enjoys cheerleading, Beyoncé, and talking on her cell phone with friends. Since it was revealed that she inadvertently started the international headband trend, however, Peterson has been barraged with interview requests.
"It all started when I was at this boring sporting-goods store with my brother and I saw these totally butt-ugly headbands," Peterson said. "I thought it might be fun to pull off wearing something dorky like that, so I bought one. When I got home and tried it on, I was like, 'I actually look pretty good in this.'"
Peterson said she was not surprised by her sudden fame.
"Everyone in this stupid town always copies what I do because they don't have any originality," Peterson said. "This is the first time one of my ideas traveled outside my school, though. When I saw the same headbands I was wearing at Old Navy, I was like, 'Yuh, get a clue.' Just because I start doing something doesn't mean everyone else has to."
Added Peterson: "Check out this scarf. Isn't it hot?"
Everyone from South Beach club denizens to stars like Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan, and Gwen Stefani has been wearing headbands this season. However, photos on Peterson's best friend's personal home page prove that Peterson was the first one to wear them.
"I didn't even think that much about it when I took those pictures of Melody last September," said Ashley Gamble, of gambleyourheart.com. "Mel's always wearing these great outfits, then complaining about how everyone else is just a clone. Now that Teen People ran that story about headbands, she's really going to have something to bitch about."
Gamble said she started wearing headbands about a month ago. She stressed that it wasn't because it was the hot new thing, but because she thought the accessory was "cute."
"It's kinda an unspoken rule that you're not supposed to copy your friend's look," said Gamble, who was wearing a pink-and-white Von Dutch headband. "But check out how sexy I look in this one. When I saw it, I just had to have it. I knew it would look hot with my black tank top."
Athletic-gear manufacturers like Nike and Puma have reported skyrocketing sales of the two-toned cotton headbands that Peterson paired with non-sporting outfits. Even high-end fashion designers have begun to steal Peterson's idea.
"Melody had a great idea," Juicy Couture designer Gela Nash-Taylor said. "Headbands are definitely going to be prominent in this year's fall lines. I know that Michael Kors is experimenting with fleece headbands, and all I can say about Marc Jacobs' headband line is, 'Wow!'"
Peterson said some of the people across the country who are copying her style are unable to pull it off.
"Everyone in the world has to imitate every single little thing I do, whether it's keeping boxes of cereal in my locker or wearing flip-flops in winter," Peterson said. "Like, some people look good in a headband, but most don't. Brad Pitt looks yummy with one, but Hilary Duff? Please. You have to have an attitude to pull it off. Which, uh, she does not."
Continued Peterson: "Someone sent me a picture of [Vice President] Dick Cheney wearing a headband like mine, and it made me want to puke. Newsflash to government guys: If you work in an office, don't try to be cool."
According to Peterson, the most upsetting thing about being ripped off on a national scale is that "the whole thing is so over."
"I haven't worn one of those headbands in five months," Peterson said. "It was something that was cool for, like, a week, because I was the only one doing it."
"Hey, look at this—it's my dad's old bowling bag," Peterson added. "Isn't it hot? Not. But still, it might be kinda cute, in a retarded way. I think I might start carrying my gym clothes in it."

Headband Charmer Do's:

1. Bold color that contrasts or coordinates with your outfit on a single or double strand

2. Braided with ribbon and fabric to add to a fanciful up-do

3. A fitted pleather/leather band in gold, silver or primary colors

4. If feathers are a must for you, follow the small and simple rule

Headband Disaster avoiders:

1. Thick, plastic wrapped in cheap, dated cloth

2. Large patterns and colors that busy your face and outfit

3. Uneven stripes

4. Large feathers with "bling, bling", (this look is too ornate)

Style icon Mischa Barton might be known for seamlessly shifting from retro-cool street style and red carpet elegance, but regardless of where she’s headed, Mischa tells PEOPLE.com, “Accessorizing is oddly my favorite part of dressing up.” It comes as no surprise then that the actress has been having fun developing her headband collection with designer Stacey Lapidus. Mischa says that she found inspiration for the hair accessories, which range from $50 to $200, in her jet set lifestyle. “I’ve been working in the likes of India, Milan, Paris, London, Montreal, L.A, and NYC,” she explains. “My style has been somewhat boho chic, which I think is a result of having traveled so extensively throughout the course of the past year.” And she’s about to get even busier! In addition to her headband line and a collection of handbags, Barton is waiting to hear whether her pilot for the CW, A Beautiful Life, will get picked up for a series this fall. “It was a blast to film and though I’ve only seen bits and pieces [of it], I’m proud of the show and hopeful that I’ll get to shoot some more,” she says. “Since I have an obvious passion for fashion, it was also incredible for me to be offered a role that’s immersed in the industry.” Check out Mischa’s collection, available now at staceylapidus.com. – Lisa Ingrassia

JCrew has a new line of headbands in their Fall 2009-Spring 2010. They are going down the "vintage" route. Mischa Barton is a fan, and she tends to set the trends pretty early on. Stay tuned.
